Financial services firms are discovering the benefits of using pricing and reference data in the cloud. Firms can give their teams instant access to the same data sets around the globe, helping the business to identify trading opportunities, automate processes, and support artificial intelligence (AI) projects. DataScope Warehouse delivers pricing and reference data in the cloud worldwide to enable these use cases and others to become a reality. In addition, LSEG is continuing to evolve this data resource to help firms identify opportunities and innovate into the future.

  • More firms than ever before are using pricing and reference data in the cloud for a growing number of use cases across the trade lifecycle
  • LSEG DataScope Warehouse enables firms to access the pricing and reference data they need quickly and easily in the cloud
  • LSEG is continuing to evolve DataScope Warehouse, with new features, cloud distribution endpoints, and data sets being added over the next 18 months

Financial services firms are recognising the benefits of using pricing and reference data hosted in the cloud for a growing number of use cases – including modelling, process automation, and AI-based innovation. According to a recent LSEG survey, 47% of respondents around the globe are using market and pricing data in the cloud, and 38% are using reference data in the cloud.

To support firms’ digital transformations, LSEG is continuing to evolve DataScope Warehouse, which provides LSEG’s entire library of high-quality pricing and reference data in the cloud.

Our cloud journey

The inspiration for DataScope Warehouse was a very successful data solution, DataScope Onsite. This offered firms a flexible commercial model that provided unlimited access to the entire LSEG pricing and reference data catalogue using LSEG’s data model without the need for firms to process large volumes of files. However, DataScope Onsite had drawbacks – it was only available in the US, and it was an on-premises data solution, meaning that it took months for it to be up-and-running at a financial firm’s data centre and the client had to physically host the hardware.

Our customers told us that they wanted the same flexible commercial model, and unlimited access to the whole DataScope pricing and reference data library, without a physical footprint. The cloud use cases for pricing and reference data are developing fast across the whole of the trade lifecycle. Moreover, firms wanted to use this data alongside LSEG’s other cloud offerings, such as Real-Time Data, Tick History, Machine Readable News, and more.

Launched in September 2024, DataScope Warehouse now offers the whole of LSEG’s pricing and reference data in the cloud, and firms can access this data from anywhere around the globe. New firms can be onboarded to DataScope Warehouse in as little as 24 hours, dramatically accelerating the ability of firms to roll DataScope Warehouse out across their business. In contrast, on-premises deployments usually took months because of the need to install hardware and then transfer and structure the data. This means that the front, middle and back offices around the globe can be working with the same pricing and reference data fast, enabling a more connected approach to data across the trade lifecycle.

DataScope Warehouse also greatly reduces the total cost of ownership by providing a solution that enables firms to effectively maintain and manage their data needs themselves. LSEG Customer Consulting is available to help firms get the most out of DataScope Warehouse. There is also an active community of developers with support materials to help firms implement their use cases.

Transforming with the cloud

All the DataScope Warehouse content sits natively in Snowflake and Google Big Query. Originally launched with the Snowflake Secure Direct Shares capability, DataScope Warehouse now uses Snowflake Private Listings.

With Private Listings, LSEG can share pricing and reference data securely with DataScope Warehouse users in any Snowflake region quickly and easily. Also, the data can be delivered to any major cloud provider in any jurisdiction that Snowflake operates in. This ability to transfer data from one geographical location to another quickly and easily greatly reduces the total cost of data ownership for firms.

Looking to the future

More capabilities are being added to DataScope Warehouse over the remainder of 2025 and early 2026. For example, Change Tracking – another Snowflake feature – shows users when data has been altered, and will notify users of data changes based on the data they use. This helps support both data deployment and data governance within firms.

Also, more content will also be added in the months ahead, including corporate actions. This additional data will help support key financial firm use cases that are rapidly evolving.
