LSEG at London Climate Action Week 2026

2026 has been another landmark year for London Climate Action Week (LCAW) - breaking records not only in scale, with more than 1,300 events and representation from over 30 countries, but also in urgency, as rising temperatures underline the accelerating pace of change.

Against that backdrop, we were proud to help bring collaboration to life. Over the course of the week, we connected more than 1,000 investors, banks, corporates, scientists and policymakers - creating space for the conversations, partnerships and ideas that will shape the transition ahead.

Across our discussions, a clear theme emerged: investment is flowing into the green economy and climate transition, and challenges over energy security are driving faster adoption. Resilience and adaptation also moved firmly into focus. As extreme weather events increase in frequency and severity, the financial and business implications are becoming harder to ignore, placing climate risk increasingly at the centre of decision-making.

Together with Reuters and the Green Finance Institute, we hosted London Climate Action Week: Finance Live, a daily show capturing key debates shaping the agenda with world-leading climate and finance experts - from shifting capital flows to the realities of implementation.

In partnership with Chapter Zero, we examined the role of boards in driving effective climate governance and how organisations can embed transition thinking at the highest levels.

We also celebrated the momentum behind the green economy. We welcomed the Green Economy Mark Class of 2026, recognising companies driving sustainable growth across global capital markets. Alongside this, we hosted our annual Green Economy Forum, where we unveiled insights from our latest research showing the scale of the opportunity ahead: despite energy shocks, policy divergence and market volatility, the green economy has now surpassed US$10 trillion.

At the same time, markets continue to evolve to support the transition. We hosted carbon market discussions with the Coalition to Grow Carbon Markets and the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, exploring how to scale credible and effective mechanisms.

The last day of events started with a market ceremony for the UK-China Green Finance Taskforce, where we marked the launch of a new report on transition finance collaboration opportunities between the UK and China, alongside a new FTSE Green Bond Index developed with China Construction Bank, which highlighted the power of this type of collaboration in action.

And we partnered again with the World Climate Foundation to host the World Climate Investment Summit, one of the flagship finance events of LCAW, bringing together investors, policymakers, businesses and financial institutions to explore how to accelerate capital deployment. The programme balanced technical discussions on finance and implementation with broader conversations about leadership, communication and public engagement. One particularly memorable session featured the producer of “How to Live on Earth”, narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch, highlighting the powerful role that storytelling can play in making complex climate and nature issues accessible, relatable and relevant to wider audiences.

Across every event and conversation, one thing was clear: momentum is building. As we look towards COP31 and the decade ahead, the opportunity lies not only in mobilising capital, but in deepening understanding between those providing it and those putting it to work. LSEG can play its role bringing together investors, banks, corporates, sovereigns and policymakers to share perspectives, to better understand the challenges each faces and identify practical solutions that will also enable investment and capital flows.

The transition requires engagement across the entire ecosystem, and London Climate Action Week showed just how valuable those conversations can be.
