Description of the dataset
- LSEG captures company guidance as a critical forward-looking component of the earnings cycle, helping customers compare management expectations with analyst forecasts. Our active guidance coverage includes 9,500 companies, while historical guidance coverage extends to 15,000 companies.
- We provide both quantitative guidance for numerical company outlooks and qualitative guidance for non-numerical or textual management commentary. LSEG supports 20 measures for comparable numerical guidance and 110 measures for as-reported guidance across quantitative and qualitative records.
- Our Guidance data includes guidance source, currency, effective date, event ID, event type, guidance measure, collected measure, estimate period and activation date. We also capture guidance values, segment dates, normalisation, scale and guidance mean estimate at date to support expectation-gap analysis.
- LSEG maintains comparable guidance history dating back to 1994 and as-reported guidance history dating back to 2002 or 2003 where available. We structure the dataset across GuidanceCollectedData, GuidanceComparableData, GuidanceCompanySegment and GuidanceCollectedText with 174 data dictionary rows.
