Summary

LSEG continues to expand its partnership with Databricks, the Data and AI company, making historical tick data available on the Databricks Marketplace via OpenSharing – the first open protocol for securely sharing data and AI assets.

This enables clients to work with LSEG’s Tick History database – spanning more than 30 years of market activity – directly in their Databricks environments, reducing data movement, simplifying integration and enabling organisations to leverage Databricks’ analytics and AI capabilities against historical market data at scale.

Integrated with Unity Catalog, the offering also supports centralised governance, allowing organisations to manage access, track data lineage and audit usage across teams and environments.

Historical market data at unmatched scale, available directly within Databricks

Delivered through secure, entitlement-controlled access across cloud environments, the integration simplifies how organisations work with historical tick data. LSEG Tick History is made available from the Databricks Marketplace directly within Databricks, enabling users to query and analyse high-precision, normalised data at source – within a single environment. With OpenSharing, there is no need to move data or rely on external ingestion pipelines. Data is delivered in parquet format, further helping organisations work efficiently with large-scale historical data.

LSEG Tick History: Three decades of market depth and breadth

LSEG Tick History delivers a complete, consistent view of decades of intraday trades, quotes and market-depth data, supporting analysis of market behaviour, liquidity and execution performance. With over 30 years of market depth and breadth, covering more than 580 global venues and contributors, the database spans an 80+ petabyte storage footprint and captures more than 100 trillion rows of data.

Organisations can combine Tick History with proprietary and third-party datasets within their Databricks environments to support large-scale research, analytics and model development workflows without the need to move data between systems.

Accelerating research, backtesting and model development

Within Databricks, firms can leverage Tick History to support both individual and enterprise-wide use cases. From research, model development and backtesting to transaction cost analysis, AI-driven analytics and alpha-seeking investment strategies, organisations can develop, test and scale data-driven strategies using historical market data and the Databricks Data + AI Platform.

The integration also enables teams to collaborate more effectively within a shared environment. Combined with Databricks' scalable compute capabilities, Tick History streamlines analytical workflows, helping firms move insights between research, development and production more efficiently.

This expansion builds on LSEG's growing data footprint within the Databricks ecosystem, alongside Lipper Fund Data & Analytics, Cross Asset Analytics, and Quantitative Analytics Database. LSEG's Pricing & Reference data is planned to follow.
