Data & Analytics, UK
“I joined LSEG though the graduate scheme in 2013 and I quickly realised that I wanted to work in sales. Both my rotations were in business development roles – one with the realtime data team in London and the other providing sales support for FTSE Russell. Then, in 2015, I was given the opportunity to spend some time in our New York office, before starting a sales role in London. In this new role I was given additional responsibilities for Asia, which meant that I was able to travel to Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney too.
In 2018 I felt ready to take the next step in my career so I left to join NASDAQ, but after a brief period away I came back to LSEG when I was offered my current role as a Sales Manager at FTSE Russell in 2019. I look after the UK and the Nordic regions and my clients are mostly buy-side; hedge funds, asset managers and wealth managers. My team sells data and analytics, and we provide research as well.
Sales roles tend to be target driven, which means that there are clear metrics against which to measure your performance. To succeed, you’ll need to be solution-focussed and good at building strong relationships with clients; whenever they have a new requirement you should be their go-to person.
My colleagues here at LSEG are diverse, capable and intelligent, and everyone is willing to make themselves available if you need help or advice – it’s a mentally stimulating place to work. All in all, LSEG provides a forward-thinking, challenging environment at the heart of the financial markets – that’s why I enjoyed working here in the first place, and it’s why I wanted to come back too.”
