As Private Markets Gain Momentum, Advisors are the Gateway and Indices Hold the Key
The FTSE Russell 2026 Wealth Pulse Survey highlights the growing role of private markets in affluent investor portfolios and the critical role of financial advisors and benchmarks in driving adoption. Based on a survey of 600 U.S. investors with at least $500,000 in investable assets, the research shows that around one-third already allocate to private markets, with Millennials leading demand. While investors are broadly satisfied with 2025 performance, many express caution about the 2026 outlook. Strong trust in financial advisors positions them as the primary gateway to private markets, yet many advisors are underutilizing this opportunity. Benchmarks are seen as essential for building confidence, enabling performance comparison, and supporting broader participation. As interest grows, particularly among younger investors and workplace plan participants, private markets are moving closer to the investing mainstream.
