Overview of StarMine SmartHoldings Model

Description of the dataset

• LSEG provides the StarMine SmartHoldings Model to rank global stocks by their expected future increase or decrease in institutional ownership. We help clients understand which companies align most strongly with the buying preferences of professional investment managers.

• Our model identifies fund purchasing profiles by analysing the fundamental characteristics of companies that each fund has been buying. We evaluate factors such as price-to-earnings and debt-to-equity ratios to infer the attributes that may drive high-conviction institutional demand.

• LSEG compares stocks globally against fund-level purchasing profiles and aggregates the results across funds. We rank companies by region based on collective institutional appeal, supporting stock selection, flow anticipation and portfolio idea generation.
