Market consultation on market structure and trading hours 

    • There was broad consensus among respondents to London Stock Exchange’s consultation, that a reduction in trading hours could help improve velocity of trading, diversity and wellbeing
    • A majority of respondents would ideally require a broadly aligned approach across European exchanges
    • London Stock Exchange will discontinue intra-day auctions on SETS, and will consult with key stakeholders, including regulators, to minimise any potential market disruption.

      • £31.2bn traded during Closing Auctions, representing 32% of total order book
      • £11.3m ADVT in Closing Price Crossing (CPX) Session

International Order Book (IOB) and Shanghai-London Stock Connect

    • $6bn traded in May 2020, with $315m ADVT 
    • IOB offers access to Emerging Markets even beyond Russia, with India value traded at $229m (+18% YoY) and Kazakhstan value traded at $52m (+195% YoY)
    • China Pacific Insurance Group Co. (CPIC) has received approval from the Chinese Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) to issue GDRs through the Shanghai-London Stock Connect programme
      • This marks a significant step toward listing in London
      • This will be the second listing through the programme after Huatai Securities successfully raised just under $1.7 billion last year
