LSEG Highlights – 2019 Year in Review

    • Borsa Italiana Markets Review 2019: FTSE MIB performance increased by +28%, extension of trading hours for derivatives on IDEM, 1000+ ETFs listed, new ExtraMOT PRO3 bond segment for SMEs


Shanghai-London Stock Connect and International Order Book (IOB)

      • Huatai was the third most actively traded Asian security on London Stock Exchange in 2019
    • $290m ADVT in 2019 on IOB, and on key days for Russian securities IOB had almost half of on-book combined liquidity between Moscow and London

Global Equity Segment (GES)

    • Global Equity Segment went live in October 2019, bringing to London 50 of the most actively traded US securities and 30 liquid Chinese ADRs, traded in USD and with no stamp duty
    • The Trading Fee waiver for GES has been extended to 31 March 2020


London Stock Exchange ETPs

    • £103bn orderbook annual turnover in ETPs, contributing to 9% of all cash trading on London Stock Exchange in 2019
    • Total AUM in European ETP market surpassed $1tn in 2019, and approximately 75% of it can be traded in London

IDEM - Derivatives

    • From 17 February 2020, the trading hours on IDEM for futures and mini-futures on the FTSE MIB index will be as follows: opening auction from 07:45 CET, continuous trading phase starting at 08:00 CET, end of the evening session postponed to 22:00 CET
    • IDEM recorded €4bn ADVT in 2019, with evident growth in the number of standard contracts traded for stock dividend futures (+121%) and weekly options on FTSE MIB (+25%)

Borsa Italiana - Equities

    • FTSE MIB recorded +28.28% annual performance - leading among European large cap indexes
    • 91.7% turnover velocity for Borsa Italiana in 2019
    • 41 new admissions, of which 35 IPOs - 4 on MTA and 31 on AIM Italia

Borsa Italiana - Fixed Income

    • ETFplus listed its 1000th ETF in June 2019, welcomed Vanguard and Goldman Sachs as new issuers, and closed the year with record €88.2bn AUM (+ 32% YoY), €11.4bn net inflow (+72% YoY) and €105.7bn turnover
    • ​​​On 24 September 2019, Borsa Italiana launched ExtraMOT PRO3 as its new bond segment dedicated to SMEs and unlisted companies with ambitious growth
    • ​​​​​In December 2019, MOT and ExtraMOT introduced Closing Auction and CPX​​
    • €9.89bn traded through Borsa Italiana RFQ in 2019, with €3.1m average size

ESG : Sustainable Bond Market in London and Sustainability Day in Milan

    • On 11 October 2019, London Stock Exchange's Sustainable Bond Market (SBM) was launched, broadening the range of green, sustainability and social bonds - after becoming in 2015 the first exchange to set up dedicated Green Bond Segments.

On 2 July 2019, Borsa Italiana hosted the Sustainability Day: 30+ companies attending 330+ meetings with 80 national and international investors, highlighting the growing interest in ESG themes
