30% Club and guests celebrate the launch of the "Are You Missing Millions?" report

Brenda Trenowden, Global co-Chair of the 30% Club, opened the market today ahead of a series of CEO and wider panel discussions to launch the 30% Club’s latest campaign and its report, "Are You Missing Millions? The Commercial Imperative for Putting a Gender Lens on your Business."

Created by the 30% Club’s Strategy Best Practices Group, which is co-Chaired by HSBC and the 30% Club, the Report was produced in conjunction with PwC and support from WPP. It features case studies from global and FTSE100 diversity champions including Diageo, GSK, HSBC, Mastercard, PwC, Unilever and Vodafone. Its aim is to inspire and support businesses to seek commercial benefits by taking a more systematic and enterprise-wide approach to gender, far beyond the traditional focus within HR.

Case studies in the Report show how businesses have increased customers, revenues and evolved relationships with suppliers as a result of focusing on gender considerations. For example, 50 million women living in emerging markets have no access to a mobile. Vodafone has an aim to address this by 2025 and through re-designing its products and services specifically for women, it has already connected 20 million women. Unilever found that recognising under-represented audiences and focusing on diverse, inclusive and unstereotypical character portrayals created 37% more brand impact and 28% higher purchase intent for its brands, as well as improving the relevance, credibility and enjoyability of its adverts for millions of consumers globally.

The 30% Club was founded in the UK in 2010 and is a global effort with chapters in 14 countries/regions around the world. It collaborates with businesses, governments and other campaigns to improve gender diversity and accelerate the pace of change throughout organisations.

Under Brenda Trenowden CBE and Ann Cairns’ leadership as 30% Club Global Co-Chairs, energies are concentrated on supporting more women into senior management roles and taking action to reach the 2020 pipeline goal: for every FTSE 100 company to have 30% of its senior management roles held by women.
