London Stock Exchange welcomes City Giving Day Celebrating volunteering and philanthropy in the City of London
City Giving Day is an annual initiative run by the Lord Mayor's Appeal. Launched in 2015, City Giving Day provides a platform for companies across London to celebrate and showcase their charitable work. Championed by successive Lord Mayors of the City of London this event has gone from strength to strength with a record 305 companies taking part this year.
From static cycle challenges and treasure hunts to charity fairs and mentoring, on this day thousands of employees will be engaged and hundreds of charities will benefit.
Alderman Charles Bowman, The Rt. Hon the Lord Mayor of the City of London.
"There’s some really valuable work being done by City firms, benefitting society through business volunteering, fundraising events and philanthropic work. City Giving Day is a chance to shout out about this vital work, whilst at the same time encouraging others to get involved.
"It’s clear to see many firms are now making responsible business programmes and philanthropic activity a core part of their work, a rising trend which looks set to only increase."
The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress are delighted to attend London Stock Exchange Market Open Ceremony to kick start celebrations with some of the Appeal's lucky supporters picked out of the Lord Mayor's hat. Joined also by the Sheriffs and Aldermen, they will continue on for the rest of the day, on foot, to visit some of the businesses taking part to share in their celebrations.
