London Stock Exchange welcomes Barratt Developments Plc

Barratt Developments PLC, a FTSE 100 Company, is today celebrating its 50th anniversary on the London Stock Exchange. Barratt Developments was first established in 1958. Over that 60-year period, it has become the UK's largest and best-known housebuilder. With 27 divisions across England, Wales and Scotland, last year it completed 17,579 homes, its highest number for a decade and second highest ever.

As well as building the most homes, Barratt has continued to maintain industry leading build quality and customer service. It retained its 5-star rating for customer service from the Home Builders Federation for the ninth year in a row and received more NHBC Pride in the Job Quality awards than any other housebuilder for the 14th year in a row.

The company has three housebuilding brands – Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes and Barratt London. It also has a commercial development arm delivered by Wilson Bowden Developments. With over 6,300 employees, last year (FY18) Barratt had a turnover of £4.8bn, invested nearly £1bn in new land, supported 45,000 wider jobs and contributed £2.7bn of gross value added to the UK's economy.

David Thomas, Chief Executive of Barratt Developments PLC, commented:
"Barratt Developments has been on an incredible journey since it was formed in 1958. From Lawrie Barratt building his first home in the North East to becoming the country’s largest housebuilder, we lead the industry in construction, design, quality and customer service.

"In total we have built 450,000 homes for our customers and as we celebrate our 60th anniversary we continue to lead the future of housebuilding by putting the customer at the heart of everything we do."
