London Stock Exchange today welcomed Van Eck Global Investment Ltd
Van Eck Global Investment Ltd. opened market this morning to celebrate the listing of the first Market Vectors UCITS exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in Europe.
The Market Vectors Gold Miners UCITS ETF (GDX) and the Market Vectors Junior Gold Miners UCITS ETF (GDXJ) provide exposure to the global gold mining market and mirror the strategy of their US-listed counterparts. GDX is benchmarked to the NYSE Arca Gold Miners Index and covers a comprehensive portfolio of large, mid-sized, and small global gold mining companies. GDXJ tracks the performance of the Market Vectors Global Junior Gold Miners Index and invests in micro-, small-, and medium-capitalisation gold mining companies, many of which are in an exploratory or early development phase.
“Providing European investors with a UCITS version of two of our largest and most recognized ETFs in the U.S. market is an important step in expanding our international ETF business,” said Lars Hamich, CEO at Van Eck Global (Europe). The ETFs are currently available to investors in eight European countries and subsequent registrations in further countries are scheduled,” he added.
The ETFs are registered for public distribution in the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Spain.
