London Stock Exchange today welcomed Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC
London Stock Exchange today welcomed Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC (AAS) to open the market, an investment trust that is celebrating its twentieth anniversary of its listing on the LSE.
Launched on the LSE in October 1995, its objective is to maximise total return over the long term from a portfolio of smaller quoted companies in the Asia Pacific region, excluding Japan. At launch it raised £35 million, mainly from institutional investors, however its shareholder base has broadened widely and the company as at 31 may 2015 had gross assets of £417 million.
Nigel Cayzer, Chairman of AAS said today “Our investment trust is a reflection of the Asian growth story over the last twenty years. The development of Asia can, in many ways, be tracked through the history of its smaller companies, many of which are significantly geared into the megatrend of the rise of the Asian consumer.”
The Board and manager have published last month a history of the company which may be found at the company website at www.asian-smaller.co.uk.
