London Stock Exchange hosts The Alpha Trader Forum EU Buy side Summit
Monday 28th January 2013
London Stock Exchange today welcomed The Alpha Trader Forum EU Buy side Summit to its headquarters in Paternoster Square where 60 buy side firms from across Europe convened to discuss the trends and developments that are affecting their businesses. To celebrate the occasion, The Alpha Trader Forum and the Summit’s participants took part in the London Stock Exchange’s Market Opening Ceremony.
The inaugural pan-European buy side event met to discuss those issues pertinent to equity trading and equity market structure. The summit followed on from the success of ATF’s focused, invite-only roundtables that take place throughout Europe, including France, the Nordics, Germany and the UK.
Valentina Sidoti, Head of Institutional Investors and Market Analysis at London Stock Exchange Group, said: “We are delighted to provide the venue for this year’s Alpha Trader Forum in London. Efficient secondary markets depend on active, substantive dialogue between buy-side and sell-side institutions, as well as market infrastructure providers and other participants. This event is a great opportunity to further that dialogue, and we are thrilled to welcome so many attendees from across Europe today.”
Anita Karppi, Managing Director, Alpha Trader Forum commented: “We are delighted to be asked to open the market today, and look forward to the informative debate that awaits us. Alpha Trader Forum has been providing a forum for the buy side to openly debate what matters to them since 2010. As Europe’s financial services sector continues to transform within new regulatory guidelines and best-practices, it is essential that the buy side has this voice.”
The Alpha Trader Forum EU Buy Side Summit 2013 is sponsored by Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Liquidnet, London Stock Exchange Group, Fidessa and Instinet.
