The Eve appeal opens trading on London Stock Exchange

Friday 27th September 2013

Today, Trustees, researchers, supporters and friends of The Eve Appeal were joined by the glamorous Royal couple on a Market Opening aimed both at raising the profile of gynaecological cancers and to celebrate the end of GCAM – gynaecological cancer awareness month.

The opening also allowed The Eve Appeal to host a ‘Focus on Research’ forum at which Professor Martin Widschwendter, Head of UCL’s Department of Women’s Cancer, explained to a packed auditorium, recent and exciting advances in the current research programme.

Robert Marsh, Chief Executive, The Eve Appeal said:

“We were extremely pleased to be given the opportunity to open the markets today, especially as gynaecological cancer awareness month draws to a close.  In spite of these five cancers affecting so many women every year, both globally and here in the UK, their profile and the available research funding remains very low.  Profile raising events are hugely helpful and it was super to be hosted by Diane Cote, who is both a senior executive at London Stock Exchange and a long-time supporter of The Eve Appeal.”

The Eve Appeal funds world class research into the five gynaecological cancers focusing on risk prediction, early detection and improved screening – with their core research unit based at the pre-eminent University College London.
