London Stock Exchange welcomes Inspiring Fifty

To celebrate the achievements of inspirational European women in technology in the week of International Women’s Day, Inspiring Fifty invited the most inspirational women in the UK technology sector to join them at the market opening.

Earlier in the week on 8 March (International Women’s Day), Inspiring Fifty announced its latest annual list of the top fifty most inspirational women across Europe’s technology sector - highlighting today’s influencers, entrepreneurs, business leaders, academics and policy makers. This event provided the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of these women and all Inspiring Fifty role models.

Inspiring Fifty is a pan-European non-profit organisation that identifies, encourages, develops and showcases women in leadership positions within the technology sector.  Through events, publications and speaking engagements, Inspiring Fifty has built a platform with the aim of motivating, educating and inspiring millions of women across Europe and worldwide. The hope is to inspire a new generation of female leaders and entrepreneurs, to ultimately address the gender imbalance in the sector.

As seasoned entrepreneurs and founders of multiple high-growth companies, Inspiring Fifty co-initiators Janneke Niessen and Joelle Frijters know all too well how uncommon it is to find women in technology leadership positions. Further, they know first-hand how pervasive gender bias and negative perceptions can be at all levels. In launching Inspiring Fifty, they set out to challenge the industry to see itself differently, to provide a platform for the many accomplished, fierce (and all-too-often overlooked) women in technology ‘closer to home’ and set a shining example for the future leaders and entrepreneurs that will be following in their footsteps.
