London Stock Exchange celebrates a life in the City - Brian Winterflood
Brian Winterflood – Life President at Winterflood Securities
Brian Winterflood started his career in 1953 as a messenger at Greener Dreyfus & Co, Stockbrokers. Four years later, after his National Service, Brian joined Bisgood Bishop & Co as a stockjobber in 1957. He would later become partner, then director in 1971 and finally chief executive. When the company was taken over by County NatWest Investment Bank in 1986, eighteen months later, in 1988 he resigned to found Winterflood Securities, where he occupied the role of managing director until 1999 when he was appointed CEO.
In 1993, the company is acquired by Close Brothers Group plc, a specialist financial services group and a listed company on the London Stock Exchange. In 2002 Brian Winterflood then becomes non executive Chairman and, finally, Life President of Winterflood Securities in 2009.
In addition Brian has received numerous awards: APCIMS Award 2000, Lifetime Achievement Award SIMA in 2008, Lifetime Achievement Award Variety Club 2008, member Order of St George 2002, member Guild of International Bankers in 2002, Freeman City of London in 2002 and Liveryman International Bankers 2007. He was awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2012 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to the Financial Services.
