“I’ve been in the networking industry for over 10 years, and I joined LSEG in February 2019, not long after the Romania office first opened. It was a completely new environment – new building, new colleagues, new projects – and it’s been really exciting to watch our presence here in Bucharest grow.
I joined LSEG because I wanted a new technical challenge. Previously I worked for a major networking vendor, where my role was focused on troubleshooting, but here at LSEG it’s a multi-vendor environment and my remit is much broader. I’m assigned to each project as the main technical resource from Network, so I have to take responsibility for that project, be mindful of the bigger picture and ensure that what I implement now will last the test of time. I have the opportunity to work across new technologies, which is really important in terms of enhancing my technical knowledge – being a good engineer is not just about theory, but also hands on practice – and I’m able to achieve that here.
Technology has traditionally been a male-dominated field, but at LSEG as a woman in technology I feel that I’m respected and encouraged to do my job based on my technical ability alone. I’ve been given the opportunity to come up with and implement my own training plan, which is really important to me. I’m a very disciplined person, so I tend to plan my path step by step, which is something that’s very much encouraged here. I was also selected by management to take part in the Grow to Lead leadership programme, which stretches over a year. The fact that they’ve chosen to invest in me makes me feel supported and acknowledged for what I do here.”
